Steve Bowyer - Glade Hill Fire Co
Being blessed with 2 brother-in-law's Elton Cundiff, one of the founding members of Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department and his brother Rodney Cundiff, longtime Chief of Glade Hill Fire Department I decided to join the department with them in 1974 to serve the public, save lives and people’s property. Working off donations, fundraisers and the help of the women's auxiliary was the way we could run the department. Older trucks and equipment did get the job done, but now that times have changed, and with the help of Public Safety, trucks are state-of-the-art fully loaded with equipment to serve any need.
Being the secretary of the fire department from 1980 to 2021, I have been very blessed. I have a daughter, Lisa Willie that joined Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department in 1996 and is now the current secretary of the fire department. I also have a granddaughter, Bralynn Beamesderfer who joined June of 2022 as a junior member of Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department. It sure does seem like it runs in the family. As any fireman in the county knows, it takes a lot of dedication. Our number one focus is to be there for our community, something we all love to do.
